Senior MySQL DBA with perl

ASI is looking for a talented MySQL DBA to join our IT team. We have been in business for over 30 years and are a short commute from Manhattan, northern New Jersey, Connecticut, and the Hudson Valley. We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of keeping large databases running smoothly, who stays current with best DB practices, and has spent at least three years managing large databases (300GB+ operational, 1TB+ warehouses) in MySQL 5 on Linux servers.

Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment maintaining and enhancing complex systems based in open source technologies with a team of productive, smart, and energetic developers.

Requirements:

*Extensive knowledge of MySQL 5 administration
*Ability to write and troubleshoot complex SQL
*Thorough knowledge of replication in MySQL 5
*Professional experience with MySQL features like triggers,
stored procedures, and views
*Troubleshooting and query optimization
*Experience with DRBD clusters, heartbeat, and high availability
*Understanding of Linux filesystems, LVM, and RAID management
*Familiarity with Maatkit database management tools
*Solid perl programming ability, relating to MySQL management
*Experience supporting web applications in a 24x7 environment

Candidate will:

*Have a firm grasp of database design, software engineering,
and network engineering principles
*Be responsible for data integrity and consistency for several
large and complex database systems which are in use 24x7x365 by clients
all over the world
*Be responsible for DB security, backups, and disaster planning
*Monitor DB performance to guarantee optimal response times for our customers
*Plan and implement new warehousing strategies to speed up application
performance
*Write or code DB descriptions and schema, and maintain documentation of
all DB systems
*Communicate with developers, customer service, and sometimes
customers regarding data access and integrity
*Research and recommend hardware for DB servers
*Work at our office fulltime, and be on call for emergencies
*Have a healthy sense of humor, and ability to work under pressure
